Golden Bloom, Grownup Noise, Timmy Williams

When: Mon., Aug. 20, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $7-9

The sleeper hit in the middle of this triple bill, Boston's Grownup Noise lives up to its name, balancing indie rock instincts with adult pop sensibilities. Cello and accordion broaden the palette on their 2011 release, This Time With Feeling; the album's highlight, "Gone Is a Four Letter Word," is an ambitious and exquisite suite in three movements, worth every second of its eight-minute running time. Headlining is Shawn Fogel's power pop outfit Golden Bloom, from New Jersey; opening is comedian Timmy Williams (from the sketch troupe The Whitest Kids U' Know). —Peter Blackstock
