Re: “N.C. House budget cuts are jeopardizing our environment

Thanks for the article- the Raleigh "hometown paper" has DENR in its crosshairs too and lacks the talent to write a to-the point, insightful column like this that really puts things in perspective. Once upon a time, our state was a place that welcomed new development and balanced that with a healthy environment and rules and laws that protected it. Now, if the General Assembly gets its way, the development community will not only see long delays in permitting and pay through the nose for those delays, but then development will come to a screeching halt when NC can no longer boast its clean, green communities and natural resources. We won't need clean beaches and mountian streams b/c no tourist will care to visit. Students won't bother to come play sports or study here b/c we don't give a fig about education anymore. It's sad to actually see those who are supposed to "represent" us doing the opposite of what we want. Why aren't they listening? Is Pricey the only one paying attention? Is everyone else really that ignorant? The General Assembly is such an embarassment and disappointment. Sadly, our choices are limited when it comes election time- Jack Johnson says it best- Where'd all the good people go? We got heaps and heaps of what we sow.
