Perhaps Tillis needs to be reminded that the U.S. Constitution says that members of congress are "privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses."

@Barry: Only two (Salmon and Richardson face Republican opponents in the November. The other nine are running unopposed in the general election. I did not look to see if they had primary opponents earlier this month.

@MJKopechne: If you want to talk about nepotism, then talk about how Kim Davis succeeded her mother as county clerk of court. She was a deputy clerk of court under her mother for nearly 26 years, and now her son is one of her deputy clerks of court.

Judge Bunning, by the way, was an appointee of President George W. Bush.

Cabinet-level positions are not part of the Council of State. They're the cabinet heads appointed by the governor for agencies such as DHHS, DENR, Public Safety, and Revenue. The Council of State comprises the statewide elected officials: governor, lt. gov, secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer, auditor, ag commish, labor commish, insurance commish, and superintendent of public instruction.
