Duke's Gennifer Weisenfeld examines the impact of the 1923 Great Kanto¯Earthquake in Japan in Imaging Disaster: Tokyo and the Visual Culture of Japan's Great Earthquake of 1923. The book examines the cultural impact of the earthquake from such perspectives as "photography, cinema, painting, postcards, sketching, urban planning, and even scientific visualizations" and how visual culture helped with the understanding of the event. She discusses the book at 6:30 p.m. in an event at CDS sponsored by the Regulator Bookshop. —Zack Smith
