GeekCraft Expo RDU Holiday Market

When: Sat., Dec. 16, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 2017
Price: free

By definition, pop culture is mass manufactured, which perhaps accounts for the profusion of unique unlicensed goods around it. Millions of people own identical Wonder Woman and Supergirl Blu-rays, but a number small enough to count on your hands own Stitch Culture's Wonder Woman/Supergirl clutch. Stitch is one of about fifty local makers who will be selling wares at GeekCraft Expo's RDU Holiday Market on Saturday, which offers many small-batch, hand-crafted, and often totes adorbs ways to take personal ownership of your geek obsession, whether it's comic-book movies or video games, Star Trek or Doctor Who. In addition to a bankrupting variety of one-of-a-kind jewelry, home décor, apparel, toys, and other crafts, this holiday pop-up of the recurring expo also offers free, Star Wars-themed, hands-on crafting for children, courtesy of Marbles Kids Museum, and a performance by The League of Extraordinary Belly Dancers. —Brian Howe
