Gantz | Special Events | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Thu., Jan. 20 2011

Local theatersFans of Japanese manga comics have their first must-see event of the year: Gantz, the live-action adaptation of the hugely popular manga reprinted in the states by Dark Horse Comics, comes to America for one night only. The comic is alternately a satire and celebration of the worst instincts of teen boys: Two teens killed in a subway accident wake up among other recently deceased people in a loft with a big black orb that gives them suits and superweapons, and tells them to go out and kill aliens for points they can use to earn back their lives. In many ways, it's a video game come to life, with lots of big action sequences and not a small amount of snarky humor (in the comic, there's also a fair amount of nudity). The film will screen at Regal Cinemas' North Hills Stadium 14 and Brier Creek Stadium 14 at 8 p.m., and features a live satellite interview with stars Kazunari Ninomiya and Kenichi Matsuyama. WARNING: This version of the film will be dubbed into English, which may result in some unintentional comedy. —Zack Smith
