Chapel Hill
BEN + VESPER
NIGHTLIGHT—A new act to the Sounds Familyre stockhouse that includes Danielson and, lately, former 16 Horsepower frontman David Eugene Edwards as Woven Hand, Ben + Vesper Stamper are a married couple from New Jersey. Musically, they're pleasant foils, he boasting a monolithic baritone (like Michael Gira and Stephin Merritt) that moves in slow, steeled motions against her lithe, gentle warble. They take life's small things—from trying to pay the light bill up to the joy of expecting a baby—and engage them with all-important focus, writing vacuums of pop songs and smartly disguising life's playfulness in slow motion. Also, Daniel Craig and Joshua Abbott visit from Arkansas, with acoustic guitars in hand. Tickets are $5 for a 10 p.m. start. —Grayson Currin

Durham
LATIN DANCE PARTY
CINELLIS PIZZA—Warm up your hips and unloosen your tie, because Noche Latina is back! Come out to Cinellis on Broad Street for Club Cimarron, a night of Latin dance including salsa, merengue, reggaeton and bachata. Proceeds of the dance benefit El Kilombo Intergaláctico, a collective in Durham that offers programs and events such as ESL classes and bilingual computer classes for minorities, students and working-class communities in Durham. There is a $5 cover. For more information, visit www.elkilombo.org or call 688-8768. —Megan Stein
