Fred Wesley and the New JB's

When: Sun., Oct. 11, 3 & 6 p.m. 2015
Price: $30-$35
If funk legend Fred Wesley’s name doesn’t ring a big damn bell, review these monster credits: trombonist (as a teenager) for Ike and Tina Turner; arranger, composer and trombone man for James Brown for seven years, after which he hoofed it to Parliament-Funkadelic; author of the Duke University Press memoir Hit Me, Fred: Recollections of a Sideman. The Art of Cool co-presents Wesley and his band, the New JBs, for two Sunday afternoon shows that you should feel coming up through the Main Street sidewalk. —Chris Vitiello
