Freakwater, Drunken Prayer

When: Mon., July 18, 9 p.m. 2016

From Conway Twitty covers to haunting originals, Freakwater has made its indelible mark on alt-country with mountain music storytelling and vocals that tug at your heartstrings. Founded by Janet Bean and Catherine Irwin in 1989, this iteration of the band features long-time bassist David Gay, Morgan Geer of Drunken Prayer, and Warren Ellis of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The band is touring behind Scheherazade, the band’s first album in over a decade. Drunken Prayer opens. –Desiré Moses
