Let's get this out of the way first: Foodie isn't exactly what you think it is. Even though the movie does feature people who fit the titular description—food snobs who most likely spend their days sharing pics of their latest mouthwatering meal on Instagram and condemning Paula Deen and Rachael Ray as culinary terrorists—the movie is more dark than delectable. This latest short film from Raleigh genre director Christopher G. Moore (Flush With Fear—which is what you think it is!) has a gastrophile (fellow Raleigh filmmaker Nick Karner) getting invited to an "underground" dinner party filled with nefarious food connoisseurs and a suspicious menu. A devious, well-directed bit of black-comic gruesomeness, Foodie just may be the first film to appease fans of both food porn and torture porn. And, hey, there will also be food trucks. —Craig D. Lindsey
