Foghorn Stringband

When: Wed., March 23, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $10

In the 1930s, John and Alan Lomax traveled through the South collecting field recordings of American folk music. Those scratching, popping, beautiful recordings now sit in the Library of Congress. The Foghorn Stringband plays with a physicality that revives that old-time music: Fiddles sing, guitars ring and feet stomp. The band never lets up, and instrumentals turn into breathlessness. It's dance music that kicks up the dust like the old Lomax Model A Ford. —Andrew Ritchey
