Flatt Lonesome

When: Sun., Aug. 16, 4 p.m. 2015
Price: free
Flatt Lonesome takes a more-is-more, jam-band-like approach to modern bluegrass. They layer banjo, bass, acoustic guitar, mandolin and fiddle behind Buddy Robertson’s classic bluegrass vocals and the twang of his sister, Charli. The six-piece returns just a few miles from the spot where they spent time pickin’ and winnin’ the Emerging Artist of the Year award at last year’s International Bluegrass Music Association. Expect a mix of straightforward staples, country burners (like Buddy and Julie Miller’s “Does My Love Burn Your Finger”) and gospel originals inspired by the Robertsons’ childhood as preacher’s kids. —Karlie Justus Marlowe
