Fitz & the Tantrums, Hunter Hunted

When: Sat., April 13, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $22-25

On their debut, Pickin' Up the Pieces, Los Angeles sextet Fitz & the Tantrums more than live up to their self-described "soul-influenced indie pop" by hitting a reverb-seasoned sweet spot between Amy Winehouse and Gnarls Barkley. No doubt they want to spread their wings for their second LP, but the lead single from More Than Just a Dream sounds more like a deep cut from The Killers than anything directly beholden to Hitsville USA. With the Tantrums' new album a month away from release, the best way to find out if that single means the band has taken a new direction or a minor detour is to see them live. With Hunter Hunted. —David Raposa
