Fingerpickers: Charlie Parr, Phil Cook, Ryan Gustafson

When: Fri., Oct. 10, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $8
Don’t expect too much hyper-complex fingerpicking here, especially if you’re still recovering from an IBMA hangover. Instead, Phil Cook and Charlie Parr should deliver more subtle (but just as skilled) acoustic tunes on banjo and guitar. Ryan Gustafson, who shares this bill, is a gifted songwriter, whose dual LPs (Donkey and Desert) are some of the best to come out of the Triangle in the past decade. This performance is upstairs by the venue’s coffee station rather than in the ballroom “proper,” meaning you’re in for a more intimate gathering. Parr and Cook perform again Saturday night at The Pour House. —Allison Hussey
