Fan Tan, Wesley Wolfe, Sammies

When: Fri., March 11, 10 p.m. 2011
Price: $5

Brooklyn's Fan Tan embellishes hefty shoegaze riffs with gauzy synths and dreamy vocals, arriving at something fetching yet powerful, like the Killers on a steroid binge. Wesley Wolfe and his airtight ensemble tear through emotionally rich power pop that's smart as a whip—and hits just as hard, too. Charlotte's the Sammies are more inclined to party. Shoving Stones-y barroom energy through a filter of Strokes-y garage chic, the band creates jams that are more interested in moving bodies than challenging minds. So, dance. Pay $5 at 10 p.m. —Jordan Lawrence
