Fallen Angels

When: May 24-June 10 2012
Price: $13-$15

Speaking of theatrical workouts, spare a thought for Lynda Clark and Sandi Sullivan, who begin a month headlining two of the three productions in the rotating rep of Theatrefest, an annual production of N.C. State's University Theatre. Light comedy remains the rule for the summertime season, and the opening production of Noel Coward's early hit fits the bill. Its tale of lowdown doings among the upper crust scandalized audiences in the 1920s, as two society matrons of a certain age are divided and conquered by a visitor from the past: a French lover each had a fling with prior to their marriages. Rachel Klem directs the sparkling catfights in a production also featuring Ron Foreman, John McIlwee and Paul Paliyenko. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday–Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, and then intermittently until June 10. Tickets are $13–$15; a $36 ticket is good for all three plays in the festival, which concludes June 24. A full schedule is at ncsu.edu/arts. —Byron Woods
