Ex Cops | Local 506 | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Sun., June 16, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $10

The video for Ex Cops' "Separator" is perfectly disaffected: The two primary members of this co-ed Brooklyn outfit go bleary-eyed shot for bleary-eyed shot, looking pointedly bored as a half-dressed girl dances on the bar, her tennis socks just inches from their drinks. As a whole, Ex Cops fit too many clichés of modern indie as a self-aware tide of jangly, ironic nothing: There's plenty of chillwave atmosphere, psychedelic pop shimmer and tasteful boy-girl harmony—yet it's all so painfully familiar as to be destined for background music for exactly the kind of bored drinkers the artists themselves play in the video. —Corbie Hill
