Etiolated, Mangalitsva, Death Metal Pope

When: Thu., Dec. 8, 9 p.m. 2016
Price: $5
Etiolated, meaning made pale or feeble by starvation of sunlight, is the perfect name for this excellent Raleigh crew. Whiplashing from crusty doom to excoriating black metal, the quartet’s dehydrating pummel is as bleak as its macabre outlook. “Life is the worst punishment inflicted,” James Storelli growls on “Exsanguinate.” Sometimes, it’s hard to argue with that. Mangalitsva and Death Metal Pope open. —Patrick Wall
