Action/Adventure, Suspense/Thriller

Cribbing the prison setting of John Woo's 1997 hit Face/Off, Escape Plan takes place in an off-the-grid illegal SuperMax prison sitting off the coast of Morocco. The CIA hires Ray Bresslin (Sylvester Stallone), a professional structural security expert, to enter the prison as a convict in an attempt to discover any weaknesses that may lead to a prisoner escaping. Once inside Ray finds that he has been setup by his business partner (Vincent D'Onofrio) and enlists the help of a mysterious fellow inmate (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in attempting to break out of the floating fortress.

Director Mikael Hafstrom manages to pull off the impossible and turn the casting gimmick of two geriatric action stars into a solid piece of entertainment. After the disappointments that have been The Expendables franchise, our elderly heroes have finally found the balance between recalling their former glory days while still acknowledging that time has taken its toll on their bodies.
