Eric Roberson, Algebra Blessett

When: Sun., July 27, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $25-$30
Neo-soul singer Eric Roberson is a survivor. He bounced around the music industry—recording a still-unreleased album for Warner Bros., going back to school to study musical theater, working with DJ Jazzy Jeff's production company—before his career finally found traction. The twists and tribulations have tempered Roberson. "Mark On Me," the impeccably produced single from his forthcoming The Box, is smooth as satin sheets, but a subtle freelancing guitar sprinkles the song with jazz weirdness. It should be interesting to see how he balances that studio crispness with onstage chemistry. Atlanta-based R&B singer-songwriter Algebra Blessett joins this bill, a presentation of The Art of Cool. —Chris Vitiello
