Eric Jerome Dickey

When: Wed., Aug. 18, 7:30 p.m. 2010
Eric Jerome Dickey knows The New York Times best-seller list. He knows it very well, having landed books on it 12 times. The former software developer's works have been hailed both critically and commercially. Dickey now trots around the globe doing research for his engrossing novels, having recently visited Antigua and Argentina. He can also claim nerd cred, having penned a six-issue Marvel miniseries featuring Storm from X-Men and the Black Panther. His new work, Tempted by Trouble, tells the story of Dmytryk, a promising worker in Detroit's auto industry who loses his job and then gets an offer he can't refuse. With his wife's encouragement, Dmytryk plunges into the world of high-stakes bank robberies with crime ringleader Eddie Coyle. One of the topics Dickey will address at tonight's reading and signing is why he chose to set this story in the present-day recession. Visit www.barnesandnoble.com or call 489-3012. —Sarah Ewald
