Emel Mathlouthi

When: Thu., Oct. 29, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $24-$28
N.C. State’s performing arts series lineup isn’t quite on par with its counterparts at Duke and UNC, but this presentation is worth your attention. Emel Mathlouthi, a Tunisian singer-songwriter, gained popularity with protest songs in her home country and in Egypt as the Arab Spring peaked in 2011. You don’t have to speak Arabic to be enchanted by her tremendous voice and winding melodies. —Allison Hussey
