Re: “The INDY’s Endorsements for the N.C. General Assembly

CanNOT get over your indefensible endorsement of Doucette over Mike Woodard. Just remember, McCrory was lauded as a moderate, reasonable Republican, and look at what a mess he (and his legislative allies) have made of our state. The water in your office coolers must have been tainted with something pretty serious to make this kind of ridiculous, nonsensical endorsement. I suggest you try again.

Re: “Which of the Triangle’s new upscale cinemas has the most panache for your extra cash?

Haven't been to the Cary venue but was completely turned off by Silverspot. The seats, while cushy and with lots of legroom, were uncomfortable and I exited with a backache. They treated me like a second class citizen when I tried to purchase my ticket using--HORRORS!--cash. (I had to go to the concession stand, where by the way there is no computer screen to use to pick your seat, which is required....really unfriendly.) Totally NOT worth $14.50. I will continue to patronize the Carolina as much as possible. It's the best place with the best deal, and NO pre-screening commercials!

Re: “Rising as he writes, Raleigh's Joe Newberry embraces his muse

I love listening to Joe on PHC but the best place to hear him is up close & personal, at a concert at someone's home. He loves doing these and to experience his artistry live, with only 30 or so folks to share it with, adds a whole new dimension. A great raconteur as well as a great musician. Thanks to the INDY for helping more people notice Joe!

Re: “Ravenswood: No wimpy wines

Hello. Thanks for noticing my absence. I now write for Durham Magazine locally and Charlotte Food & Wine. Both are glossies that publish 6 times a year.

Re: “North Carolina's ridiculous liquor laws

JSMT says none of the taxpayer's money is used to run the stores. Who else do you think is paying for upkeep, stores, employees and warehouses? It may not come DIRECTLY from taxpayers, but it's their money all the same. He also says we'd lose tax money if the ABC system were removed. Wrong! Ohio did it in 1996. They immediately saved over 31 million dollars on stores, upkeep, etc., and sales have increased every year for the past 10 years. If stodgy old Ohio can do this, imagine what a vibrant state full of well to do corporations can achieve.
