Ellis Dyson & The Shambles, Brothers Egg, The Midatlantic

When: Fri., Sept. 4, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $8
Jazz fusion often calls for equal parts bebop, rock and funk. Ellis Dyson & The Shambles mix up the recipe with older ingredients. The Chapel Hill sextet blends old-time swing, ragtime and bluegrass into up-tempo foot stompers. The music isn’t a history lesson, just a good time. They’ve cut their teeth in nearly every small Triangle venue, and they’ve just issued their debut LP. If you missed their album-release show last week in Chapel Hill, then make plans to catch them in Raleigh thanks to Younger Brother Productions. —Justin Weber
