Elle King, Paul Cathen | The Ritz | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.

Elle King, Paul Cathen

When: Mon., Nov. 14, 8 p.m. 2016
Price: $25
Ascendant singer-songwriter Elle King’s occasionally ribald take on contemporary blues and R&B shares sonic terrain with the Black Keys, but unlike that band’s frequently faceless identity, she fills in the picture with a fully formed persona pitched somewhere between femme fatale and self-effacing comic foil. Her lively writing and energetic, knowing vocals compensate for the occasional moments where paint-by-numbers production threatens to subsume King’s musings in a miasma of modern rock tics. Paul Cauthen opens. —Elizabeth Bracy
