Elijah Jamal Balbed

When: Fri., Sept. 11, 8 & 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $12
Washington, D.C.-based saxophonist, composer and jazz wunderkind Elijah Jamal Balbed is a savant who has sustained his success. Shy of his 25th birthday, the smooth-playing Balbed is already in the midst of an impressive career. The Washington City Paper named him best new jazz musician in 2010. He was only 19. The next year, he fell in with the late, great Chuck Brown, aka “the Godfather of GoGo.” Today, Balbed heads The JoGo Project and released his first solo album, Lessons From the Streets, in April. —Chris Vitiello
