This article really misses the mark. There are lots of things wrong with some of these new developments, but too little parking is not one of them. Mandatory minimums for parking are worthless and just encourage more car-centric behavior and planning. I'm heartened to hear that this apartment complex has a parking shortage. Indeed, I'd be thrilled if Chapel Hill had a town-wide parking shortage - maybe then we would get some real bike lanes and paths (instead of the worse than useless and idiotically named sharrows), along with a bus system that caters to the broader community beyond UNC.
