Re: “Freeway through the heart of Durham

the Hayti story and the freeway through it didn't only happen in Durham. It happened also to traditional black neighbourhoods about the same time. I am a former resident near one of these, this was elite policy then, and had considerable federal assistance in its implementation. Carving up traditional neighbourhoods in established cities to serve wider regional development (and corporate business, somehow). All of this lacks a cohesive story, and history, yet. In this writer's opinion. Am grateful to an NS State professor friend who sent me the recent Independent story. edward meyer (of St. Louis, MO)
