Edge Michael, Streets A Fire

When: Thu., July 2, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$12
The Jamaica-born, Florida-based reggae singer Edge Michael has esteemed connections in his chosen field, from famous relatives to genre-shaping collaborators. At his best, though, the grinning-and-cooing bandleader updates their old mantras with pure positivity and the gumption of pop, so that his songs shine as brightly as his preferred southern climes. Neither his voice nor his songs are altogether distinctive, but it’s his winning attitude—about reggae as a discipline, power and life-force—that makes his sets so endearing. —Grayson Haver Currin
