Easter Island

When: Sun., Oct. 20, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: $5
Easter Island's lush electro-rock sprawls and shines, but it's somehow a perfect fit for the cramped cavern of Chapel Hill Underground, too. The hooks are understated, offered with whispery intensity by singers Ethan and Asher Payne. Bass and drums erupt with danceable energy, but the guitars and keys settle like a fog, enchanting listeners rather than overpowering them. In essence, they're an anti-Passion Pit, a sleek indie pop act that understands that bombast isn't the only vehicle for expressing emotion. Lake and Woods open. —Jordan Lawrence
