Re: “Breaking point

I consistently find Mr. DeLuca's comments to be less than constructive, along the lines of if it does not two the conservative line blow it up. I have four chldren in the Wake County schools and, while not perfect, I believe that the system as a whole is doing an good job. Check any credible metric of education and you will see that given the size, diversity and growth WCPSS is succeeding. It cannot make every parent happy all the time and it cannot optimize the educational experience of every student, but who can possibly imagine that packing them in the rooms like sardines will accomplish anything like an acceptable outcome. Retain teachers in that environment? Not likely. Attract the sort of educated, engaged parents that are needed to support competitive industires in our region? Again, not likely. I think Mr DeLuca, Mr. Coble, Mr. Margiotta and many of the folks that are taking foucs and resources away from the real goal of educating our students. They instead seem intent on disruption for purposes that on the face seem only designed to advance their political aspirations and leanings. It is not about education- it is about politics, and not about the students. Shame on all of them.
