Durham election results

Barack Obama won Durham County by a 75-23 margin over John McCain.

Libertarian Bob Barr shaved off just .47 percent of the vote; write-ins accounted for .31 percent.

These totals are from the Durham County Board of Elections, with 65 of 66 precincts reporting. The provisionals, approximately 1,700, have not been processed.

Democrat Bev Perdue won with 70 percent of the vote; Republican Pat McCrory took 25 percent and Libertarian Michael Munger grabbed almost 4 percent.

And in the U.S. Senate, which CNN and MSNBC have projected to go to Kay Hagan, the challenger won Durham by a 74-22 margin. Libertarian Christopher Cole won 2 percent of the vote.

The county commission race was essentially decided in the primary, with the top five people running for five seats in the general election. Joe Bowser won the most votes with 85,740.
