Durham Arts Council & downtown spaces—Forget the mall: Knock off your holiday shopping in a downtown weekend at the annual Durham Art Walk Holiday Market. A festival of locally made artwork and crafts will be on display—and for sale—at locations along a walkable route all over central Durham. Participating locations include the Durham Arts Council, Durham Art Guild, Durham Convention Center, Durham History Hub, Vega Metals, Net Friends Inc., Through This Lens Gallery, Bull City Arts Collaborative, Claymakers, LabourLove Gallery and more. Live music and food trucks will be scattered about as well.

This year, the Durham Art Guild launches an Art-A-Thon event at the Art Walk. In makeshift studio spaces at the Arts Council's SunTrust Gallery, many local artists—including painter Cat Manolis, photographer Frank Myers, screen printer Brian Gonzalez and portrait artist Amanda Dicken—will crank out affordable artwork on site all day. A portion of Art-A-Thon proceeds will benefit the Durham Art Guild. —Chris Vitiello
