Dum Dum Girls, Ex-Cops

When: Mon., Nov. 3, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $14-$16
Dee Dee Penny’s tough, cool rocker gang were the class act of the late ’00s lo-fi garage-rock revival, packing classic hooks beneath static hiss. Subsequent releases showed little shame in shearing off that fuzz. As the recordings have gotten cleaner, Penny’s retro tastes have advanced. Dum Dum Girls’ latest record, Too True, is vibrant neo-goth, an appealing midpoint between Siouxsie Sioux and Madonna. Brooklyn’s Ex-Cops—makers of dark-tinged shoegaze pop—offer a nice match. —Jeff Klingman
