Duke vs. UNC

When: Sat., Oct. 20, 7 p.m. 2012

In normal years, this game is an opportunity for perennial football pretender UNC to fatten up its record midway through another underwhelming season and a trip to the Meineke Car Care Bowl. But this year, UNC is on probation, having failed to secure anything of note despite cheating. Meanwhile, Duke is 5–2 and well on its way to its best season in two decades. The Duke alums are so bullish on football these days that they recently announced a $250 million fundraising drive to improve the school's athletic facilities; the lion's share of it is earmarked to modernize Wallace Wade Stadium, turning the horseshoe into a bowl and raising the capacity to 43,915. If you want to use the occasion to support breast cancer research, you can contact Zeta Tau Alpha. They're selling $50 tickets for $30, $10 of which will be donated to the cause. Call James Weiner at 919-684-8858 for more information. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.; the game will also be televised on ESPN2. —David Fellerath
