Duke New Music Ensemble with Heimat String Quartet

When: Sun., Oct. 25, 3 p.m. 2015
Price: free
The Duke New Music Ensemble kicks off its 2015–16 season with a concert of music inspired by other arts. Most intriguing is a new piece by Duke University Visual Studies professor Bill Seaman, which finds the group improvising over a prerecorded tape track. Premieres of a solo guitar piece by Kenneth David Stewart and a work for amplified piano and bass by Ben Daniels join music by Morton Feldman, Earle Brown, Erwin Schulhoff and the group’s director, Sid Richardson. The Heimat String Quartet accompanies the last two pieces. —Dan Ruccia
