The Hunter was good. It showed Mastodon was capable of doing a stripped down, more straightforward and radio friendly album which still retained their signature sound and creativity. Once More Round the Sun is a travesty however. It's the one thing Mastodon should never be: forgettable and generic. Every song sounds the same and none of them stand out in any real way. I'm not quite ready to cry sellout just yet, every band makes a sub par album or two, but it was a huge disappointment.
