DACA, the federal immigration policy that allows minors who were brought to the U.S. without documentation to stay—at least temporarily—is so embattled that we have no idea what its status will be by the time you read this. That's why the Pleiades Gallery show DREAMers: A Visual Conversation about DACA, Deportation Defense, and the American Dream is especially vital and timely. A collaboration emerging from a series of conversations among Pleiades artists, Alerta Migratoria NC, and the NC Dream Coalition (all of which will be represented at this reception), the exhibit features contributions from Cornelio Campos, Manny Perez, Erick Saavedra, Michelle Valladarez, and many others, all probing the limits and the durability of an American dream that becomes a nightmare when it isn't available to all. —Brian Howe
