Re: “Lessons from the Henry Louis Gates case

Glen Beck 'stupid'. How easy we find ourselves using those desciptive verbs about someone when we don't agree with their opinions. I can only think how hard it must have been to oppose Hitler in the early 30's when one represented such a small minority in a large population. Perhaps the inability of 'anyone' on earth to be 'GOD' and the 'know it all right person' is what keeps us trying to sort out our thoughts and come up with what we hope are 'intelligent' answers to so msny of todays problems. I guess I am another 'stupid' person if I don't totally agree with you. My lesson from the Louis Gates case is that we need to stop, listen, become informed and then HOPE we can come up with a fair intelligent and useful answer.

Re: “A face of the uninsured, a state of denial

I agree, we need health care reform but FAIR health care reform. The same Coverage should be for ALL - Congress, Senate, government workers, union workers etc. Any amount paid by the government or an employer for an individual should be added to that individuals "taxable income" and taxed fairly. Many individuals for years have been made to subsidize these fringe benefits and then go on to buy their own health coverage out of taxed income. Wise up American unfairly taxed taxpayers, - require government and employer paid "fringe benefits" to be taxed fairly. This would help pay for universal coverage fairly without the imposition of communistic style unfair redistribution of the wealth. The wealthy should pay their fair share but so should everyone.
