Inoculated for regular weeknight bands by free jazz acts such as Polyorchard, Neptune’s—or the bar below Kings and The Garland—launches its “Songs from Downstairs” series with two members of Arrogance. After that band’s heyday several decades ago, co-founder Don Dixon kept busy, whether co-producing R.E.M.’s Murmur or releasing a string of concept-heavy solo records. He joins Rod Abernethy, the Arrogance guitarist who’s since enjoyed a busy career as an international score composer for video games and film. —Grayson Haver Currin
