Re: “Preservation NC Says the DPD’s Soon-to-Be-Former HQ Isn’t Just Another Government Building

I'm sorry, but this building is ugly. There are so many old, beautiful buildings in Durham that should be preserved. This is not one of them.

Let's not preserve things JUST because they are old. Why can't we can build something new that is beautiful and in time, it will be old and beautiful? Build it so that it fits in with the old warehouses and classic buildings of Durham.

Otherwise, we might as well just live in a city that looks like the Unscripted Hotel....

Re: “After Pat McCrory Lost, the NCGOP Falsely Accused Hundreds of Voter Fraud. Shouldn’t That Be Harder?

I think this is a dangerous road. Imagine we put these restrictions in place and it dissuades people from bringing forth an investigation that they are unsure of, but DOES prove to be voter fraud.

I think leaving individual names out of the media is an issue (that should be addressed), but putting barriers to creating checks/balances on our voting process is a completely different issue that could have negative consequences.

I believe that gerrymandering started in a similar way. Dems making small tweaks and then having it blow up in their faces when the Republicans took over and started going nuts with the maps. It doesn't take much to imagine a voting scenario that goes the other way...
