This annual fall concert includes performances from the Duke Djembe Ensemble and the Duke Afro-Cuban Ensemble, featuring students under the direction of veteran percussionist and lecturer Bradley Simmons. The pair of percussion troupes—the former focused on the story-telling rhythms of the traditional West African instrument—join guest performer Monti Ellison, another seasoned educator and composer who has played alongside Harry Belafonte and Lonnie Liston Smith. —Spencer Griffith
