Re: “Accounting Errors Put the Carolina Theatre in a Hole. Can Dan Berman Dig It Out?

This article is disturbing in so very many ways. Most significantly, it seems that Bare is attempting to justify the growth-at-all-costs approach. Instead, how about an approach that features fiscal responsibility, in recognition of the fact that this non-profit organization is accountable to its donors and the community at large. This isn't the Hard Rock Cafe! One very large claim is almost laughable, however: that the President / CEO had no knowledge that he was running a deficit of SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS PER YEAR FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS, or 8% - 10% of the entire budget! And we're supposed to believe he had no knowledge that something was wrong? Why isn't someone investigating this issue for what it was -- essentially a Ponzi scheme. Any experienced theater manager should know that it is NOT acceptable to spend tomorrow's cash on today's bills.
