This brown bag discussion is aimed at shedding light on the conversion of university faculty positions into temporary jobs and the effect on the quality of instruction. Michael Behrent, Associate Professor of History at Appalachian State University, will discuss the problem of contingent academic labor in the context of the corporatization of higher education. The history of adjunctification, as well as how it relates to broader trends in our economy and society, will be considered. A question-and-answer session will follow.
