Drama, Suspense/Thriller

Hey, did you know that the Internet can be a horrible, effed-up place, filled with identity thieves, underage-porn chatrooms and fake Facebook accounts? Well, if you didn't, this movie is here to remind you. Commercial director and former documentarian Henry Alex Rubin (Murderball) assembles a competent ensemble cast (Jason Bateman, Hope Davis, Paula Patton, Alexander Skarsgard and fashion designer Marc Jacobs are a few of the players) for this two-hour downer full of characters that get wrapped up in the pitfalls of modern technology. As much as this well-intentioned movie reminds viewers that interacting with people (especially your loved ones) will never beat texting, webcamming, Facebooking or whatever, this movie is such a multi-narrative mess of miserablism, I'm shocked Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu has nothing to do with it. Not to mention that the movie is clichéd as hell—it even includes a shot of a girl sitting in the passenger side of a car, rolling her hand in the breeze. That's like the walking-from-an-explosion-in-slo-mo shot of indie movies!
