Re: “Governor's School blues

A program should never be designed so that you forever feel that you will never have such a wonderful experience again. A truly altruistic program would communicate to you that your best years are to come and that they plan on helping you by giving you tools so that you can be the best that you can be in the FUTURE. It should teach you tenacity, ethics, and loyalty (family and friends), A program that tries to usurp and replace family and long-held friends and creates a cult-like utopia is not helpful for students. A student should be excited to use his/her learned tools and go out in the world, not bawl at the thought of leaving because life will never be as good as it was at camp. If this is the aim of N.C. Governor's School,, then it deserves the criticisms it receives.
