Re: “Life after (peak) oil

Thanks for this article. As a member of Earthaven Ecovillage near Black Mountain, I'd like to offer two corrections. The electricty-generating device in our stream is not a Pelton Wheel though it's based on the same technology: it's a micro-hydro unit. And, most ecovillages are not income-sharing, and in fact very few intentional communities in North America any kind (ecovillages as well as others) are income-sharing. Most, like Earthaven, are independent-income communities.

If Indy Week readers would like more information about Earthaven, our website is http://www.earthaven.org. If they'd like information about ecovillages in general, I recommend my e-newsletter, Ecovillages: http://www.EcovillageNews.org. If they'd like to know how to find and join ecovillages, I've written a book on this: Finding Community: How to Join an Ecovillage or Intentional Community (New Society Publishers, 2007). http://www.DianaLeafeChristian.org.
