Re: “Smoking ban 1, Hookah Bliss 0

A head shop no doubt stocked with K2/Spice. Yea, that makes a helluva lot of sense....

Re: “Smoking ban 1, Hookah Bliss 0

Frankly I'm sick and tired of elected officials trying to "protect" me. And Bliss was kind in his comments about his hookah bar being replace by a head shop. It isn't irionic,,, It's stupidly, moronically, idiotically, and perversely ironic.

...and I don't even smoke.

Re: “Complaint filed against Cary's Jennifer Robinson

Filing a complaint against the Robinson campaign is a desperate political stunt. Van's complaint should be directed at the legislators who pass campaign finance laws and not at the Robinson campaign, which is simply following the existing law. It's pretty sad when issues can't win the day and surrogates for another candidate resort to flimsy accusations which stand no chance of being acted on. IndyWeek should ashamed for providing tacit support for such a sham political stunt and instead lobby legislators to change the law.

Re: “Bush, Smith in Cary

Why does The Independent think the Crosland project and the Searstone project at Davis & HighHouse are bad ideas? By your own admission, it's important to protect Jordan Lake and yet you dismiss Jennifer Robinson's efforts on the Northwest Area Plan and the Southwest Area Plan which does exactly that. She was the only Council person to favor planning for the inevitable growth in Chatham County on the East side of Jordan Lake and it curried not even a mention. You seem to believe that the citizens are always correct. I believe they should be listened to but that doesn't necessarily mean they're on the correct side of the issue. Many of the DHH activists didn't give growth issues the time of day until a planned for large development showed up in their neck of the woods. I think you are giving them too much credit and not giving Ms. Robinson credit where credit is due.

Re: “Wake commissioners break off-course on school needs

Bob, Unfortunately, it seems party leaders (both Rep & Dem) are more interested in maneuvering for power than they are in working together to forge solid public policy. As long as the fringes control the party leadership, I don't see this changing.
