Dex Romweber, Radar's Clowns of Sedation, Pearl Van Dammit

When: Sun., Oct. 27, 8 p.m. 2013
Dex Romweber is a versatile guitarist who mines the nexus of the Sun (Records, that is), where rock emerged from country, swing, surf and blues. It's an old sound refracted through a serrated modern sensibility, at times evoking a smoky subterranean bar after midnight, at other times a back-alley scrap. On a good night, Romweber's playing becomes so possessed it's as if he's alone in the bar. He's also a fine vocalist, with a barreling baritone that can narrow into a King-like croon. Radar's Clowns of Sedation and Pearl Van Dammit open. —Chris Parker
