Designing a Collection: The Idea of Fashion

When: Thu., Sept. 16, 5-7 p.m. 2010
Price: $5

Fashion has never been more fashionable in pop culture. On TV, there's The City and Project Runway, and recent documentaries have chronicled Valentino's fashion empire and Anna Wintour's cutthroat reign at Vogue. But tonight, area fashionistas can share this passion in person. Students at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham were paired with local designers participating in Raleigh's fashionSPARK show. Together they created Designing a Collection: The Idea Behind Fashion, an ongoing exhibition that opens tonight with a reception from 5–7 p.m. at 318 Blackwell St. This is a chance to meet the designers in person, view their creations and whet your appetite for tomorrow's fashionSPARK in Raleigh. Tickets to the reception, which is a benefit for Visual Art Exchange, are $5.—Lauren Shute
